It’s a casting coup alright. For two reasons. One — this movie will see the father-son duo of veteran actor Devraj and Prajwal play appa-maga on the big screen, too. And we know that Devraj and PD were keen to share screen space, but had been waiting for a suitable script to come their way. Secondly, another first in recent times, two young Sandalwood actors will be teaming up for a flick — Prajwal and Diganth.
And the man who’s behind it all is director
Kodlu Ramakrishna.
“And we’re proud that we’ve been able to rope in two hot and happening heroes, in addition to a veteran actor like Devraj,” says Kashyap Kakoju, the producer of the film. The as-yet-untitled movie went on the floors on Wednesday at a popular shooting spot in Hebbal. “We even had a photo session on Tuesday with Prajwal and Diganth and there was a lot of camaraderie between them. That’ll translate well on-screen,” says Kashyap, dismissing any suggestion that there might be ego clashes between the two as both have mostly worked as solo heroes so far.
As for the storyline, Kashyap tells us it’s a “conflict love story”. “It’s an original subject and deals with a college theme. So, we needed two heroes who’re around the same age. The first names that came up when we ideated were Diganth and Prajwal. They were impressed with the narration and adjusted their call sheets to give us dates for this film,” he reveals. And essaying the role of their lady love is Sheetal, a Mumbai actress who’s also done Telugu films.
Ask him about casting the Devraj duo, and Kashyap says it wasn’t easy to bring the two together in this film. “But when we met Prajwal to discuss the storyline, Devraj felt the characterisation we had in mind for the two of them would work. They’re really happy to be enacting their real-life roles on the silver screen, too,” signs off Kashyap.
