Namma Yograj Bhat is maha busy with the post-production of his upcoming Manasaare. If the director isnt in the studios, hes engrossed in designing the posters of this much-hyped Rockline Venkatesh production.
Is he feeling the pressure, with Manasaare being touted as one of the biggest films of the year? I dont get bogged down easily. Like most film-makers claim to make different films, this time around, I too have tried to move away from my classic rains and greenery theme.
Manasaare is a very unpredictable love story, says Yograj.
After working with Ganesh in Mungaru Male and Gaalipata, why didnt he cast the Golden Star again? Simply because Ganesh didnt suit this character. I wanted someone who looked metrosexual and in his early 20s. And I could only think of Diganth, explains the director.
But even as Diganth started shooting for the film, Sammir Dattanis name was doing the rounds as the films hero. Except for Amitabh Bachchan and Rajnikanth, every other heros name did the rounds in industry and media circles! Digi had already shot for a week, and even then people were touting Sammir as the hero. It wasnt fair to Diganth, YB says.
The hero came with his share of controversies his date issues and supposed lack of dedication. The director shoots down all such speculation and says that Diganth has the potential to be the next big name in Sandalwood.
Ive worked with him earlier. Youll see a very different Diganth in my film; hes unbelievably good, promises Yograj. If hes portrayed as a lover boy off-screen, its not his fault. Its the girls whore troubling him as hes so good-looking, he laughs.
The last time the industry was in a slump, Yograjs Mungaru Male drove a revival. Its back to tough times again. Will Manasaare work the magic? Its left to the audience; they made Mungaru Male a household name, says the director.
Soon, hes set to make Kannadigas proud. Yograjs been offered projects in Telugu and Hindi. Once Manasaare releases, Ill get cracking on that, he tells us.
