Director Sohan Roy's multi-crore 3D venture Dam999will be screened at the Laemmle Theatres, Los Angeles for the Academy Qualifying Run. The film, set in Kerala, is slated for a nationwide 3D release in India on November 25. In addition to English, the film will be released in three other regional languages Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, by Warner Brothers."As an Oscar bidding project with a 'made by Indians' stamp on it, my basic requirement was to get the best production team in place for the project.
I sought people with talent and not just stardom and that worked. I ended up with 16 National Award winners in the team to make this happen," recalls Sohan Roy.
The next step was to bring in the best of technology and equipment available for the making. "A 100% sync sound movie in 3D with all possible special effects was my dream. To show the film in almost 200 countries was yet another dream. I went to all major film markets and festivals including, American Film Market, Cannes, Sundance, Berlin, Toronto, Hong Kong etc. to learn and make this dream a reality. The results are that we now have a film made by Indians on the Hollywood canvas. It feels good," says Sohan happily. The muti-starrer features actors Rajit Kapur, Joshua Fredric Smith, Linda Arsenio, Jaala Pickering, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vinay Rai, Vimala Raman, Megha Burman, Gary Richardson and Jineet Rath.
