Chandan has no hassles about going nude

Chandan has no hassles about going nude
NeilNitin Mukesh, who will be in town today, dropped his pants in Jail.
And now, Chandan Roy Sanyal has done the same forMahanagar@Kolkata. Shedding all inhibitions, the Kaminey actor shot the nudescenes for his debut Bengali film.
Shooting begun on Saturdayafternoon at a model flat in one of the residential complexes tucked far away inRajarhat. Said Chandan, with his quirky sense of humour, I humoured myfriends saying that there would be a queue to watch the filming of these scenes!Jokes apart, I was comfortable shooting the nude scenes.

I might not be in lovewith my physique but I was definitely cool with my body. The scenes wereextremely important for the film and I found no reason to question mydirectors decision to have me in the nude. My only concern was that itshould not look obscene. No compromises were made with the aesthetics. My nudescene shows my character hallucinating while he is drinking a lot. He isself-indulgent and wants to just be himself without caring about what otherswill think.
Incidentally, Neils parents were supposedlyspeechless when they saw the pictures of his nude scenes in circulation.Chandan, however, didnt expect a backlash from his family front. My mother has seen me without clothes. So, whats the big deal towatch me without it on screen? On a more serious note, I dont thinkshell be offended. I have done theatre (A Midsummer Nights Dream)that had some physicality in it. Mom never went speechless after my show.Im sure she will be cool with these scenes though Im yet to tellher that Ive shot them for my Bengali film, heinsisted.
Given a chance, Chandan would have liked better shot sexscenes in Indian movies. Sometimes, it is juvenile. But I understand thelimitations too. There are so many authorities exercising a control over whatcan be shown on screen. And directors dont want to do anything that mightstall the films. But I am not against censoring of movies. In a country likeIndia, there has to be some control, else a lot of crass films will getmade, he opined.

While exposing on screen hasnt been aworry, Chandan admitted to being jittery about certain things. Icant swim and suffer from aqua-phobia. I shudder to think of doing anunderwater lovemaking scene. I think the cinematographer will then have to filmmy corpse floating! Its a similar thing with heights. I feel dizzy evenif I see people standing on watchtowers, he said, before leaving for aday-long break from the shooting to attend a screening and a seminar at a filmfestival in Delhi.
The funniest part, however, was that Chandan gotstopped at the gate of the venue of his festival! I had plugged in myheadphones and was stopped at the gate! I had to call the authorities, who thenushered me in. My friends laughed saying that nine years ago, I would be treatedsimilarly at festivals. And now, even when my own film is being screened, thesituation is no different in my hometown, he laughed before signing offfor the screening.
