Actress Mallika, who got a special mention from the jury for her role in the national-award winning film Byaari, says the honour has put extra responsibility on her shoulders.

Actress Mallika, who got a special mention from the jury for her role in the national-award winning film Byaari, says the honour has put extra responsibility on her shoulders. Mallika, who is now shooting for actor-director Madhupal's Malayalam flick Ozhimuri, has her portraying quite an interesting character.
"The role I play, Meenakshiamma, comes in different stages of her life and in different time frames in the film.

So I'll be seen as a 25-year-old to a 55-year-old. I'm paired opposite actor-director Lal in the flick. Shwetha Menon plays my mom-in-law," Mallika explains.
The actress is yet to get over the name and fame Byaari earned her. "Trust luck to come calling when you least expect it. I was actually a replacement for another actress! I decided to do the film anyway because as the first film in the Byaari language, I knew my name would go down in history if I'd be a part of the project," Mallika says. "Now, expectations run high on every role I do. Byaari has put that extra responsibility to perform better with every film I take up."
