Balakrishnan organises Anna’s date with Gandhi

Balakrishnan is one elated man. The director, who has earlier worked on Kamaraj, is all set to screen his Mudhalvar Mahatma for Anna Hazare.
The film, which stars Anupam Kher and Kanakaraj in the lead, is all about how things will change for the better if Gandhiji were to be born again.
Talking to CT, the director said, “I wanted to meet Anna in person and screen the film for him because his motive is similar to the storyline of my film.I knew he was ill and wasn’t sure if he would meet me. But I took a chance and sent him the stills of my film. His secretary called me up after a few days and said Anna had agreed to meet me. I went to Ralegan Siddhi on September 4 and we spoke in length about his movement and my film and I told how I would love to screen the film for him. He is likely to see the film, titled in Hindi as Welcome Back Gandhi, on September 14.”
Mudhalvar Mahatma, for which music has been scored by Ilaiyaraaja, will hit screens by the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Balakrishnan is ready with his next script. “It’s based on Indo-Pak relationship and I’ve approached Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan for the lead. He is yet to confirm the dates,” he revealed.
