Hodi Maga producer Kumar, who refused to change the title of the film despite the censor boards refusal to allow the film to release, has now had to settle for a compromise of sorts. But its one thats made him very happy the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has said that the words Hodi Maga can be retained as long as Kumar adds the word Hat-trick before it.
All very apt, considering that Shivrajkumar, who stars in the film, is popularly known as the Hat-trick Star.
The decision was reached at a meeting between Kumar and Jayamala (president of the film chamber), Sara Govind (president of Dr Rajkumars association) and KCN Chandrashekhar (head of the producers association) on Saturday night. They all told me that I should go ahead with the film by adding Hat-trick to the title and not to further delay its release, explains Kumar, whose film was supposed to hit screens on May 1. The new title was presented to the censor board yesterday for its approval and they should issue us a certificate, says Kumar.
The producer, whos also happy that Parvathamma Rajkumar and Shivrajkumar have agreed to the title, is looking forward to the films release on Friday. I was upset that everything happened just before the films original release date, but Im putting that behind me and awaiting Hat-trick Hodi Magas release, he says.
Movies are made to entertain. There are also disclaimers shown before movies telling people that what theyre going to see is a work of fiction. I respect the boards decision, but since we face so much competition from regional cinema, I wish theyd give us a little more freedom. Though Hat-trick Hodi Maga is a commercial action film, theres a lovely message at the end.
