It was assumed by most people to be a biopic on the Sahasa Simha, which was promptly refuted by the producers, Dwarkish and his son
Yogish. Later, reportedly, the film chamber directed the makers not to use the name Vishnuvardhana as the title. The latest is that Dwarkish has sent a notice to the film chamber seeking an explanation why the title was rejected.
When BT spoke to Yogish, he told us thatthe news is false. “We haven’t sent any notice to the chamber. Wehave only been speaking to the members on the phone requesting them to send inwriting their decision regarding the title. Nobody from the chamber has spokento us or sent a written statement about the matter,” explainsYogish.
He adds, “There has been much speculation and reportingin the media about our film and its title. While we have clarified thatit’s not a biopic on Vishnu uncle’s life, the title continues to bea matter of controversy. Let the chamber send its decision to us in writing. Ifit’s valid, we’ll apologise and coin a new title. If it’s beenrejected on the grounds of prejudice, we’ll fight for it,” saysYogish.
He reveals that they want to pay tribute to the late SahasaSimha in all their future productions. “He was a family friend and myfather keeps reminiscing about the influence he had on my four siblings and me.Vishnu uncle was the one who introduced me to non-veg food and taught me todrive a car. We want to pay our respects to one of the most successful heroes inKannada cinema. So, henceforth, the heroes in all our films will be namedVishnu,” he adds.
We hear that actor Abhijeet has already registered a similar title, Vishnu, in the chamber. “I have no right to talk about that. Let the chamber send us a statement. Then, I’ll be able to comment on this issue,” states Yogish.
