It seems that Aindrita won’t be replicating the success of Junglee with Vijay just yet. The actress, who was supposed to star opposite the Duniya star in Shashank’s next directorial, Jarasandra, has been dropped from the project. Rumour has it that
Shashank wanted someone more glam for his film. “There was a characterisation change for which I won’t fit the bill.
In fact, Shashank spoke to me before he made this decision,” says Aindrita.
But the story doing the rounds is that Andy was dropped from Jarasandra because Vijay didn’t want to work with her for reasons that are supposedly known to both of them. “I don’t have any problem with Vijay,” she maintains. However, Andy admits to having issues with an actress in the industry, who she claims has sabotaged her career. “A senior actress has been interfering in my career for the past one year,” says Aindrita, adding, “I’ve carved a niche for myself in the industry. Every actress has the opportunity to make it to the top, but maintaining that position is not a certainty. Senior actresses should help upcoming actresses instead of being a hurdle.”
But Andy’s not too put out by this development because Shashank has promised that he will cast her in his next film with her Veera Parampare co-star, Sudeep. “I’m much more comfortable working with Sudeep since I’ve acted with him before. Sudeep is very genuine and cares about every person on the set. It’s always a good learning experience working with him. Besides, not only has he had several hits in Sandalwood, but he’s also made a mark in Bollywood,” says Andy.
When BT spoke with Vijay, he claims that he had no hand in getting Aindrita dropped from Jarasandra. “The director told me that there’s been a change in the heroine’s character and that Aindrita would not be suitable for that role. So he’ll be looking for a new heroine,” he says, adding, “I’ve never asked for any heroine in particular to work opposite me. There’s been no misunderstanding between me and Aindrita,” he avers, adding that he was in no way influenced by another Kannada actress to get Andy dropped from the film. “I’m not a fool to listen to what others say and I’m not responsible if the script changes. The director decides the heroine,” is all he’ll say on the subject.
