Aindrita Ray bags another project with Vijay

Aindrita Ray, who lost out on the chance to work with Duniya Vijay in Jarasandha, is now starring opposite him in Rajanikantha

She may have lucked out when she was dropped from Jarasandha — and lost the opportunity to recreate the onscreen magic she shared with Duniya Vijay in Junglee in the bargain -- but Aindrita Ray is upbeat as she has bagged another project with Vijay.
And this time there’s no question of her being dropped from the Pradeep Raj directorial as she has already started shooting for it. “I’ve just completed the first schedule and I will join the cast and crew for the next one on February 20,” Andy tells BT.

However, the actor prefers not to recall the time when she was unceremoniously dropped from Jarasandha reportedly because Vijay did not want to act with her in that project. “I still don’t know why I was dropped from Jarasandha, but I don’t want to dwell on the past,” says Andy, adding, “From the time my pairing with Vijay clicked in Junglee, he’s been asking me to act in his films, but somehow Jarasandha was not meant for me. I’m very happy to be working with him again and we hope to create the same magic we had in Junglee.”
But how does Aindrita feel about being part of a multi-starrer? It has been reported that Rajanikantha has five heroines. “No. It’s wrong information. Vijay is the hero and I’m the heroine. I’m not aware of who else has been cast in the film,” she maintains.
Aindrita also got the Sandalwood grapevine buzzing when she posed in a bikini for a calendar shoot — more so when she got flak for doing the shoot. “I know who commented about me and I don’t want to give her free publicity by mentioning her name. I just laughed when I heard her comments. I felt it was very absurd because the heroine who commented on my attire has worn a bikini in one of her movies.”
The actor’s absence from the Bangalore match of the ongoing celebrity cricket tournament also set tongues wagging, especially since she is a brand ambassador for the Karnataka team. “We were at Sharjah for the first match. I landed in Bangalore just before the match here, but I wasn’t feeling too well, so I could not attend. I’ll be there at the next match,” she clarifies.

Up next is Parijatha, in which Aindrita stars with Diganth. And even though the film has been delayed, Aindrita is not downcast about it. “I’m glad to be part of good films again and to be working with big stars. After Manasare, which was a hit, I’m back with Diganth again. I’m sure people will love the film,” she says.
