I try not to miss the soccer matches now. But my wife, Swagatika, prefers to watch the daily soaps. She used to get really annoyed with me when I got engrossed in the game. But, I insisted that she watch the matches with me. Now, she catches up with her favourite daily soaps during replays and watches the matches with me. I think, she’s warming up to the game.

I’m a soccer fan. The problem is the matches start late in the night and that’s the time my wife, Poonam, watches TV. Often, she snatches the remote to flip the channel and impromptu wars break out. But, I also have to maintain peace. Otherwise, I’ll have to stop expecting my favourite dishes for dinner (laughs). So, I sometimes sacrifice matches for that.

I’m extremely busy with shootings during this year’s Euro Cup. Moreover, I try to keep peace in my home. So, I’ve decided not to annoy my wife, Sriya, by being glued to the soccer matches. I record all the matches instead. After I come back home and my wife retires for the night, I sit with all the recordings and watch the matches undisturbed. This clever strategy saves me from fighting with her.
