Radio never tires people out, says Sravanti Majumdar on World Radio Day
On the occasion of World Radio Day (February 13), veteran radio voice Sravanti Majumdar was felicitated at Kaan Pete Roi, an event organised by Haimantir Konthe and The Dreamers Music PR Agency. The gathering was held at a south Kolkata restaurant, in presence of Haimanti Roy, Soumya Dasgupta, Debashis Bose, Sudipta Chanda and others.
Speaking at the event, Sravanti Majumdar reflected on her journey and the enduring relevance of radio. “Radio never tires people out,” she said, adding that while nostalgia has its place, one cannot remain anchored to memories. She shared that she had originally come to pursue singing and had not planned a career in radio. Emphasising the need for excellence, she expressed hope that future generations would place greater value on quality work.
Radio presenter Raja Das acknowledged the influence of senior broadcasters, saying he had learned immensely from their generation. Haimanti Roy, one of the initiators of the programme, described radio as a constant childhood companion, especially during travels.
