Talking about the project, IP mentioned that while creating it, he wanted to preserve the roots while bringing something modern. At the same time, he spilled beans on some of our fun questions related to weddings and wedding music.
Scroll down for excerpts from the interview:
In our conversation, we asked IP Singh about the songs that make a perfect shaadi playlist for him. The artist replied, As far as the songs that remind me of weddings, I would say ‘Kawa Kawa’ from ‘Monsoon Wedding’ and ‘Gud Naal Meetha’. These two songs are my go-to songs for my Shaadi playlist.”
Further, IP shared with us the things he loves about the wedding season. Talking to us he said, “when I think of the wedding season, it is all about emotions and the celebration of happily ever after. Everyone has an emotional connection to one another, which is why we have included so many different feelings in these songs so that people can relate to them.”
As aforementioned IP Singh recently came up with ‘The Marigold Project’ which is based on the wedding festivities. So we wanted to know that when making a wedding song, what are the things that should be kept in mind. To this, IP replied. “we are not making songs for wedding seasons, we were making songs for celebrations, love, and love is an emotion, and try to emote through our music.”
During the entire conversation, IP Singh mentioned that ‘The Marigold Project’ means a lot to him. He said, “This project is actually very close to our hearts because, in our tradition, weddings are special and an occasion for celebration, and celebration calls for the blending of cultures and sticking to our roots.”
“From the start, I and Akshay were very clear that we wanted to keep the songs modern while preserving the roots and sound that the nation has given us. So, this project gave us a lot of chances to explore that and we are so happy about it,” concluded the artist.
