Punjabi folk music festival takes the virtual route
The second edition of Folk Attack Music Fest was hosted recently. The event saw a coming together of Punjabi folk artistes from different eras. The fest aimed to bring back the golden era of folk music when it formed a significant part of the music scene. Various singers from different musical backgrounds performed at the virtual festival. The line-up included Sardool Sikander, Amar Noori, Balkar Sidhu, Hardeep Singh, Lehmber Hussainpuri and Jayy Caurr.

The artistes revisited the Punjabi folk music culture which the audience enjoyed and consumed all over the world simultaneously. The special tribute to Surjit Bindrakhia by Simmie was the highlight of the event. The event was applauded by musicians and artistes from the Punjabi music fraternity, spread all over the globe. Jassie Gill, B Praak, Jaani, Yuvraj Hans and Jazzy B were among the first to express their feelings for the performances at the festival.
Hans Raj Hans, who was a part of the first edition, said, “It was a unique concept and it brought about the true essence of the folk culture and folk music. The first edition of the festival was received well and season two only turned out to be bigger. India has a rich folk music culture and I hope that we can make folk music a part of the mainstream once again.”
In the same vein, Sardool Sikandar added, “I was so excited to be a part of the festival this year. The concept was unique and it brought together folk music lovers. It made for a very different experience because we performed together virtually before an audience that was watching us from their homes. I am looking forward to the third edition now.”
Nikhil Dwivedi, who put the festival together, said, “We wanted to create a platform and get every celebrate folk legend to be a part of an evening that will be cherished. My team and I are extremely happy that we could reach out to so many music lovers.”
