Actresses who shot for songs in Punjab in 2020

If coronavirus headlined the year 2020, Punjabi music played its beat to keep people entertained and distracted from the worries of the pandemic. At a time when neither TV shows had resumed new episodes, nor had theatres reopened, besides OTT the other source of entertainment was music. Among the first to resume production of music were Punjabi singers and directors. Arvindr Khaira shot the first music video with Jassie Gill in the lockdown, using his phone as his camera. With more songs poured in more video models. These beauties from Bollywood, Hindi TV industry and Punjabi films trooped into the Punjabi music scene, camped in Chandigarh and shot for music videos. The city also became a hub for Hindi music videos.Ihana DhillonIhana Dhillon started the year shooting for the music video with Deep Money’s song, Baarish in Mohali, near Chandigarh when the country went into the first phase of unlocking. She said, “We were still in the first phase of unlocking then and everyone was afraid of contracting the virus. But, there were only 15 people on sets and after every shot the set was sanitised, that put me at ease.” Himanshi KhuranaHimanshi Khurana and rumoured beau, Asim Raaz perhaps became the most featured lead pair in music videos this year. The former Bigg Boss housemates were in demand for videos of songs by Neha Kakkar, among others. While Himanshi stays in Chandigarh, Asim flew in especially for the shooting of these videos in and around Chandigarh. She has continued shooting soon after recovering from COVID-19 and despite battling her health issues. Adaa KhanFresh from her reality show, Khatron Ke Khiladi, Adaa Khan has not taken up any other TV show yet. She says, “While I am waiting for something worth my while in TV to come my way, I was offered this music video that was to be shot in Chandigarh suburbs. I decided to take it up because the story sounded exciting.” This is Adaa’s second music video as she shot for a Hindi track with Arjun Bijlani earlier this month. Shehnaaz GillLike Himanshi, arch rival Shehnaaz Gill too featured in several music videos this year, in both Hindi and Punjabi. Bigg Boss housemate, Sidharth Shukla too paired with her in a video which was shot in the city. Besides her modelling for videos, her immense weight loss journey in 2020 became another talking point this year. With over six music videos to her credit this year, Shehnaaz was paired with Shukla in two of them. Mahira SharmaStraight out of Bigg Boss into the lockdown…that’s how Mahira Sharma’s journey this year was! In Unlock 1, Mahira travelled to Chandigarh to shoot for Punjabi and Hindi videos, becoming the first actress to resume shooting amid the pandemic. She also travelled to Kashmir from Chandigarh to shoot another video. Kanika MannBefore Kanika Mann resumed her show, Guddan- Tumse Na Ho Paega, she came to Chandigarh from home town Panipat for a music video with Amar Sandhu. About her experience, she said, “The crew was very limited, there was no shor sharaba on sets. And I was like, oh, aise bhi shoots ho saktey hain kya in Punjab.”
