Top 5 reasons to watch Parmish Verma and Sonam Bajwa starrer ‘Singham’ this weekend

This week the much awaited movies of Punjabi cinema ‘Singham’ has released. It is the official Punjabi remake of the Ajay Devgn starrer, and features Parmish Verma, Sonam Bajwa and Kartar Cheema in the lead.

The movie is high on action and drama, garnished with the right amount of romance, making it a perfect weekend treat. And, if we go into more details, then here are the top 5 reasons watch Parmish Verma and Sonam Bajwa starrer ‘Singham’ this weekend.

2/6

Bollywood meeting Pollywood

The remake of South movies into Bollywood or vise-versa is a common trend, but a Hindi film getting a Punjabi remake is not something usual. ‘Singham’ is not just a movie but a franchise in Bollywood that has already set high benchmark in the respective field. The fact that a movie of such stature, a movie that has already garnered so much love all across the nation, is being remade in Punjabi is one big thing for the industry as a whole. This hints at the pace at which Pollywood is expanding that even filmmakers from mainstream Bollywood are placing their bets on this regional mode of entertainment. Thus, this initiative needs to be noticed and applauded.

3/6

The fresh chemistry of Parmish Verma and Sonam Bajwa

On one hand, we have the Punjabi shada Parmish Verma and on the other, we have the most wanted kudi of Punjab, Sonam Bajwa, and thus, the chemistry is going to tug at the heartstrings in no time. Now, this is the first time Parmish Verma and Sonam Bajwa will be seen together on the big screen. Both of them have complementing personalities and energies, and the way their characters have been sketched, (Parmish as the disciplined guy and Sonam as the chirpy girl next door), they serve as the right parts of the same puzzle. Watching them working together will be something new for the Punjabi audience.

Parmish Verma back in the angry young man look

Parmish Verma made his way to Pollywood with ‘Rocky Mental’ in 2017, and thereafter this year he gave his second movie ‘Dil Diyan Gallan’ and now he is presenting ‘Singham’. He started off as an angry young man on the big screen, which helped him fetch utmost love and attention. His second movie showed the soft side of him, the romantic side of him, but considering his first impression as ‘Rocky’, the audience was craving to see him back in the same avatar. And with ‘Singham’, here it is. The action avatar of Parmish is what the audience had been longing for and the action is what ‘Singham’ will be serving.

5/6

The genre - Cop-action drama

Punjabi cinema is mostly known either for its romantic comedies or period dramas, the genre of action thrillers or cop-dramas has not been explored much. ‘Singham’ is a proper cop drama, it’s about an honest police officer who fears nothing and stops at nothing when it comes to justice. Moreover, coming to the action sequences, Parmish Verma has shared the BTS video of some of the stunts pulled for the movie and some of the fight training scenes, that promise high action to the audience.

6/6

The direction of Navaniat Singh

Navaniat Singh is one of the Pollywood directors who is known for his work in different genres. Right from romantic drama to comedy flicks to action-suspense thrillers, the man had his craft right in every genre. With movies like ‘Shareek’ and ‘Dharti’, he has proved his mettle in the field of serious action thrillers in Punjabi cinema and with ‘Singham’ he has tried to take the bar a notch higher. Perhaps, watching his execution is something worthwhile over the weekend.
