This week some movies made it to the box office, while some hooked the audience with their trailers, first look and release date announcements. So yet again a lot of action and a lot of entertainment happened on the Pollywood front, whose brief is right here.

This week one of the much awaited Pollywood sequels, ‘Manje Bistre 2’ made it to the screens. The movie had an impressive opening at the box office and according to the reports it is garnering a lot of appreciation from the audience. The movie stars Gippy Grewal and Simi Chahal in the lead and showcases their romance amid the wedding madness in Canda. Besides playing the lead, Gippy Grewal has written and produced the movie, which has been helmed by Baljit Singh Deo.

Besides ‘Manje Bistre 2’, there’s another Gippy Grewal starrer that made headlines this week and that is ‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’. Starring the fresh pair of Gippy Grewal and Sargun Mehta, the movie is a romantic comedy that has been the talk of the town right from its announcement. This week since the first look of the same came out, it added more to the excitement of the fans. Featuring the lead pair on a bike, the poster gave a hint of both romance and quirkiness that the movie will be offering. Further, this Karan R Guliani directorial will be making it to the screens on May 24th.

We all know that Punjabi filmmakers are now open to new subjects and concepts and proof of the same is ‘Boooo Main Dargi’. Announced this week with a creative poster, ‘Boooo Main Dargi’ is a horror comedy helmed by Manjeet Singh Tony. The movie will be featuring Roshan Prince and Isha Rikhi in the lead along with Yograj Singh, BN Sharma, Harby Sangha, Anita Devgan, Anmol Verma, Nisha Bano, Satinder Kaur, Hardeep Gill, Gurmeet Saajan, Sony Nadha, Dilawar Sidhu, Praveen Akhtar and Prakash Gadhu in important roles. The release date of the movie hasn’t been unveiled yet.

Talking of release date, the makers of ‘No Life With Wife’ announced when the movie will be hitting the big screens. This out and out comedy drama will be releasing next year on March 13. Written by Praveen Kumar, the story will be directed by Avatar Singh. Moreover, for this project, yet again Karamjit Anmol and Ranjiv Singla have joined hands as producers. This is their third movie together after ‘Laavaan Phere’ and ‘Mindo Taseeldarni’.

Another movie that got a release date this week is ‘Jaddi Sardar’. The movie is slated to hit the box office on July 12, 2019. Featuring Sippy Gill, Dilpreet Dhillon and Guggu Gill in the lead, the movie is reportedly about two brothers. The other ensemble cast of the movie includes Sawan Rupowali, Anita Devgan, Gurmeet Saajan, Gurpreet Kaur Bhangu, Satwant Kaur, Yaad Grewal, Sansar Sandhu, Swaraj Sandhu and many more. Further, directed by Manbhavan Singh, the movie has been produced by Baljit Singh Johal, Yadwinder Singh Johal and Dilpreet Singh Johal.

Punjabi cinema is famous for its period dramas and the period drama that turned heads this week is ‘Nadhoo Khan’. The movie is slated to release on April 26 and this week its trailer hooked the audience. It is the tale of an unsung hero Nadhoo Khan, whose own son is unaware of his legacy. However, when the son comes to know about the same, he carries forward it with utmost pride and brings the fame back.

The ensemble cast of the movie includes Harish Verma, Wamiqa Gabbi, BN Sharma, Baninderjit Singh Bunny, Hobby Dhaliwal, Malkeet Rauni, Rupinder Rupi, Gurpreet Bhangu, Harinder Bhullar, Gurchet Chitarkaar, Simran Dhindsa, Parkash Gadhu, Mahabir Bhullar, Raj Dhaliwal, Satwinder Kaur, Seema Kaushal, Master Ansh Tejpal and Chacha Bisna.

Another movie whose trailer hooked the audience this week is ‘Muklawa’. Earlier the makers unveiled the first look of the movie and now the trailer. The story is about a husband and wife, Shinda and Taro (Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwal). It shows that after their wedding, Taro's muklawa is supposed to be done after a year, but Shinda can't wait that long. Thus, he struggles to meet his own wife.

Slated to release on May 24th, the movie is a Simerjit Singh directorial. Along with Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa, the movie stars Gurpreet Ghuggi, BN Sharma, Karamjit Anmol, Sarbjit Cheema, Drishtii Garewal and Nirmal Rishi.

Last but not least, the movie that turned heads this week is ‘Dil Diyan Gallan’. The trailer of this much awaited Parmish Verma and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer released yesturday. Featuring the story of two different people falling for one another, the trailer’s first half is a joyful journey; however, as the second half approaches, and unexpected twists shakes one and all.

The movie is scheduled to release on May 3rd.
