Pollywood weekly roundup: Punjabi movies that made headlines this week

With every passing week of 2019, something exciting is happening on the Pollywood front. This week also, a number of movies created buzz. One one hand, where some new announcements were made, on the other, new developments were made on a couple of some already announced movies. The week started with the teaser release of ‘Dil Diyan Gallan’. Starring Parmish Verma and Wamiqa Gabbi the teaser presented a glimpse of the love story the movie will be serving to the audience. Backed by beautiful poetry, the teaser showed the romance, the happy moments and the drama that happened between the lead pair.

Coming to movie credits, ‘Dil Diyan Gallan’ has been written and directed by Parmish Verma and Uday Pratap Singh, and bankrolled by Dinesh Auluck, Ruby and Sandeep Bansal. It will be hitting the box office on May 10th.

Just after the release of his first production venture ‘High End Yaariyaan’ Pankaj Batra announced the next project that will be made under his banner. Titled ‘Jinde Meriye’, the movie is reportedly from the genre of romantic comedy. Besides producing the movie, Pankaj Batra will also be directing the same. This second production venture of his stars Parmish Verma and Sonam Bajwa in the lead and will release on 25th October.

2019 Pollywood will be witnessing a lot of fresh jodies and one of them is of Binnu Dhillon and Mandy Takhar. The two will be seen sharing the screen space in ‘Band Vaaje’, and the first poster look and trailer of the same came out this week. Featuring Binnu Dhillon and Mandy Takhar in a proper bride and groom avatar, the poster hinted at a wedding madness that the movie will be bringing on 15th March. Moreover, the trailer gave a good scoop of comedy and romance that the film is set to offer. Along with Binnu Dhillon and Mandy Takhar, the film will also star Jaswinder Bhalla and Gurpreet Ghuggi in important roles.

Talking of fresh on-screen pairings, another new reel couple to hook the audience this year is Gippy Grewal and Simi Chahal. They will be seen in one of the highly anticipated movies of 2019 ‘Manje Bistre 2’. This movie also grabbed a lot of attention this week owing to the release of its title track. Giving a glimpse of both romance and comedy, the title track of ‘Manje Bistre 2’ did full justice in offering the film’s story in a nutshell.

Besides romantic comedies, Punjabi cinema is known for its period dramas and this year the first movie to hit the screens from the respective genre is ‘Yaara Ve’. This week the first poster look of this film came out and hooked the audience. Featuring Gagan Kokri, Yuvraj Hans and Raghveer Boli posing for a picture perfect moment, the poster narrates the story of a fun packed friendship.

Releasing on 5th April, ‘Yaara Ve’ is a movie based on the tale of three friends and their bond set in the backdrop of partition era. The story is all about how their friendship fails to break even in the moments of chaos and crises.
