Pollywood Recap: From Master Ji's demise to the preview release of AP Dhillon's docu-series, here are the major highlights of the week

One of Tarsem Jassar's highly awaited Punjabi films Mastaney's trailer came out this week. The trailer was first released in the theatres and then was made available on video streaming sites. It tells the tale of Sikh warriors, the story of their valor during the domination of Nadar. The film will be hitting the big screens on August 25, 2023.

On August 7, Harrdy Sandhu's one of most loved songs 'Soch' turned 10 years old. The artist was overwhelmed with emotions on the occasion and thus shared a sweet note. He posted a video of him performing 'Soch' on the stage of a reality show and with the same he penned - "On popular demand - 10 years of SOCH - Time Flies, feels like yesterday. Thank you for giving immense love to it. There’s a story jo mein apne har show te dassdaan. I didn’t have money to do any other song after this. Je naa work karda ta shayad main taxi chala rea hundaa. Thank you all for loving this song and me, here just because of all of you."

The docu-series based on the life of musical artist AP Dhillon will be available for streaming on OTT on August 18. The preview of the same was released this week, which gave a peek into the man behind the music - Amritpal Dhillon. Talking about the four-part series, Dhillon said - "When I began my journey from Gurdaspur to Canada, I never thought that one day I would be telling my story in such a manner. I am truly humbled and thrilled to have received so much love and recognition for the kind of music we are creating."

This week Punjabi entertainment industry lost a gem when one of Punjab's prolific writers Master Tarlochan Singh breathed his last. According to the reports, he met with an accident and was found dead on the spot. His scooter was hit by a speeding SUV, and Master Ji couldn't survive the accident. As per the reports FIR has been logged in the matter and the SUV in question has been impounded.

Recently a picture of Gippy Grewal with Bollywood's musical maestros Shankar and Ehsaan was doing the rounds on the internet. The picture was initially shared by Ehsaan on his social media story with the caption - "It was lovely meeting you Gippy Grewal". Thereafter, the same was shared by a Punjabi filmmaker hinting at a possible collaboration between Gippy and Shankar Ehsaan Loy. More details are yet to be out.
