Meanwhile, on the work front, Sonam Bajwa was last seen in the movie ‘Puadaa’ with Ammy Virk. It was the first commercial movie to hit the big screens post-pandemic and had a good run at the box office. Further, up ahead she has ‘Sher Bagga’ and ‘Main Viyah Ni Karona Tere Naal’ in the pipeline. Both the movies are scheduled to release in 2022.

#WhatIf ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ was made in Punjabi with THIS star cast!

We are back with another edition of #WhatIf at ETimes. In this special series, we imagine a Punjabi version of a classic Bollywood movie. Last week our pick was - ‘Sholay’, and this week our subject is - #WhatIf ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’ was made in Punjabi with THIS star cast!

It was really hard for us to imagine someone fitting in the bill of ‘Munna Bhai’, other than our very own Sanju baba. We needed an actor to whom comedy came effortlessly, who can be both intimidating and a people’s person at the same time. And then finally, the name that came to our mind was - Binnu Dhillon. His impeccable comic timing, effortless dialogue delivery, and amazing hold over the screen make him the perfect fit for Munna's role. “Bole to, sanu jadu di jhapi Binnu paji hi de sakde ne!”

Munna can never be complete without his sidekick Circuit. In the Bollywood version, it is Arshad Warsi who played this amazing role, and if ever the same movie would be made in Punjabi then we have reasons to believe that Karamjit Anmol can do justice to this character. Karamjit Anmol is one Punjabi actor who can pull off the best Circuit. Imagine me saying the famous dialogue - “Aye bhai agar hal me chalayega to bail kya karega” in Punjabi!

J.C. Asthana was the funniest negative character we ever saw on the big screen! Played by Boman Irani, the character had short temper issues and was so full of himself. And if there is any Punjabi actor who can portray all these attributes easily, it is B.N. Sharma. Watching him doing the laughter therapy for anger would be the most hilarious part!

Late actor Sunil Dutt, played the role of Shri Hari Prasad Sharma, Munna’s father in the movie. His character was made of strong values. He was an honest simple man, who wanted his son to follow in his footsteps. Now when we think who can play such a character on the screen from Pollywood, the first name that comes to mind is Yograj Singh. Don’t you agree he is the best fit?

Now we come to the cute part of ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ - Dr. Suman Asthana, a.k.a Munna’s Chinki. Gracy Singh did a fabulous job playing the sweet girl, and in Pollywood, this very character can be flawlessly pulled off by Sonam Bajwa. She is intelligent, has the right tinge of innocence, is sweet, basically a perfect mix for ‘Chinki’. Also, it would be great to see the chemistry between Binnu Dhillon and Sonam Bajwa.
