66th National Awards
, Sameep Singh has won the title of best child artist for his debut movie ‘Harjeeta’. The interesting fact is, ‘Harjeeta’ has also bagged the title of Best Punjabi Film in the same awards today.
Sameep Singh played young Harjeeta, in the biopic based on Indian Hockey player Harjeet Singh Tuli. He owned the screen for almost 40 minutes in the beginning, and from the writer to director to other actors of the movie, everyone spoke highly of the kid during the movie promotions.
More interestingly, Sameep never appeared for any official audition; in fact, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that he rather was the discovery of the lead actress, Sawan Rupowali. He used to practice hockey at the same place where Sawan used to practice; and thus he caught the actress’s attention. Thereafter, she recorded an audition clip of him, and that’s how he bagged the role.
Ammy Virk, who played the lead in the movie, even shared Sameep Singh’s first audition clip on his social media handle. Check it out here:
