Two of Punjabi cinema’s much-awaited movies ‘Muklawa’ and ‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’ released on the same date last week on 24th May. Both the movies had a good opening at the box office, but going by the numbers, ‘Muklawa’ outran ‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’ on the first day.

According to Box Office India, on May 24th, Friday, the Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa starrer ‘Muklawa’ made a business of Rs.1,02,00,000, while the Gippy Grewal and Sargun Mehta’s ‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’ earned Rs.51,00,000. Till Sunday, the all India net collection of ‘Muklawa’ was Rs.4,14,00,000 and ‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’ collected Rs.2,12,00,000. Now let’s see how the two movies do on the weekdays, and will we be witnessing any change in the equation or not.
Sonam Bajwa on Saturday celebrated the huge opening of ‘Muklawa’ by cutting the cake. Film’s director Simerjit Singh and the producer were also present. The only person missing was Ammy Virk, who as soon as received the video of the celebration, shared it on his social media handle. Watch it here.


Directed by Simerjit Singh ‘Muklawa’ is a story of a husband, who struggles to meet his own wife. It is a sweet tale set in the backdrop of a bygone era. On the other hand, Karan R Guliani directorial ‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’ is a contemporary story of two strangers, who in one single day go through a plethora of emotions.
