Leading Bhojpuri actress lands into Punjabi films

Popular Bhojpuri actress Rani Chatterjee is making her debut in Punjabi film industry. She is the second actress from Bhojpuri to foray into Punjabi, after Upasana Singh made the switch years ago. Currently shooting in Amritsar for the film, Aasra, Rani visited the Golden Temple on Sunday and did kar seva there (washing of utensils as part of community service), before beginning the shooting.The film also stars popular Punjabi actor Guggu Gill, along with Tinu Verma.

With over 250 films to her credit in her career spanning 15 years in the Bhojpuri industry, apparently Rani was offered a debut in Punjabi industry by Amritsar-based Bhojpuri actor Balkar Singh Bali, who is also directing the film. Rani had made her debut in Bhojpuri with leading actor Manoj Tiwari in Sasura badaa paisa wala. Though Punjabi is not her forte, like most actresses in Punjabi industry who have debuted here from non-Punjabi speaking backgrounds, Rani too is hopeful of acing the acting game here.
