The ‘Jatt & Juliet’ franchise

Though ‘Shadaa’ has been a big success at the box office and entertained the audience a lot, whenever one talks about Diljit and Neeru, the first movie that comes to mind is ‘Jatt & Juliet’. As a matter of fact, the ‘Jatt & Juliet’ franchise, i.e. ‘Jatt & Juliet’ and ‘Jatt & Juliet 2’. Both the movies are classic Punjabi rom-coms packed with Neeru’s charms and Diljit’s comic timing. The first installment came out in 2012 and it got such a massive response that the makers didn’t wait long to release the second part. Thus, ‘Jatt & Juliet 2’ made it to the theatres in 2013. It’s been so many years to their release, but till date they are counted among the must watch movies of Diljit Dosanjh.

‘Punjab 1984’

Punjabi romantic comedies is a genre in which it’s hard to beat Diljit Dosanjh, but that’s not the only genre that the actor has explored. Diljit has done some serious content movies also and ‘Punjab 1984’ is one of them. Based on the 1984–86 Punjab insurgency's impact on social life, it was a period drama that showed the tale of a mother and her missing son. The film featured the impact of the insurgency on local life and people; it showed how an innocent man was forced to take up arms in his hands owing to the circumstances.

Diljit who is known to make his audience roll on the floor laughing, left tears in their eyes with his performance in ‘Punjab 1984’.

Another genre that Diljit explored in Punjabi cinema is thriller comedy. With his 2107 released ‘Ambarsariya’ the ‘Pagg Wala Munda’ proved that he can do spy drama with ease.
