​Neeru Bajwa

The Pollywood queen Neeru Bajwa is one star of the industry who needs no introduction. Right from her debut in Pollywood the actress has proved that she is in the field to play and stay. However, did you know that the ‘Jatt & Juliet’ fame wasn’t really born in Punjab. She in fact wasn’t born in India. Neeru Bajwa was born and brought up in the Canadian City of Vancouver, and it was her love for cinema which brought her to Mumbai, India. The actress was in her teens when she flew down to India to try her hand at acting, and today she is a name the industry swears by.

​Sonam Bajwa

Another Punjabi beauty who doesn’t hail from Punjab is Sonam Bajwa. This ‘Guddiyan Patole’ star was born in Uttar Pradesh. Though a lot of people believe she is from Nainital, the actress in a video confirmed that she is a Punjabi who was born in UP. However, the UP girl indeed has won all the Punjabi hearts.

​Jimmy Sheirgill

Uttar Pradesh not only gave us the stunning Sonam Bajwa, but also the dashing star of Pollywood Jimmy Sheirgill. Jasjit Singh Gill a.k.a Jimmy Sheirgill was born into a Sikh family Deokahia village, Sardarnagar, Gorakhpur district, Uttar Pradesh. However, he has his roots from Punjab, and it was in 1985 that he moved to Patiala, the place of his ancestors. He later moved to Mumbai to work in the field of acting.

​Mandy Takhar

Just like Neeru Bajwa, the ‘Sardaarji’ fame actress Mandy Takhar wasn’t born in Punjab or in India for that matter. Mandy was born in Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom. However, the British beauty does have roots from Punjab, to be specific from Maliana, a small village near Phagwara in Punjab. Further, Mandy left her family and moved to London to study drama, and then in 2009 she decided to fly to India for working in Punjabi films. A year later she made it to the big screen with her debut movie ‘Ekam - Son Of Soil’ alongside Babbu Mann. And since then there’s no looking back.

​Monica Gill

Monica Gill who made her debut with ‘Ambarsariya’ opposite Diljit Dosanjh is another Punjabi star who wasn’t born in Punjab. The actress was born in the Massachusetts state of US. She also doesn’t have her roots from Punjab, as according to the reports her parents migrated from Kansal Village of Bharatpur district, Rajasthan. Monica today is one of the most popular Punjabi actresses of the industry.
