Filmy February: Top Punjabi movies to look forward to

2023 has a plethora of Punjabi movies to offer. Every movie with a different storyline to entertain the audience. In February itself, there are four Punjabi movies releasing, which have a variety of content to offer. There is ‘Kali Jotta’, which is high on content, ‘Tu Hovein Main Hovan’ with relationship drama, and a lot more.

Starring Satinder Sartaaj, Neeru Bajwa, and Wamiqa Gabbi, ‘Kali Jotta’ is releasing in the first week of February - 03, Feb. It is the first big-budget Punjabi movie of 2023. The film chronicles the journey of a girl, who once was seen as the life of everything, and then with time turns into a bird with broken wings. It’s the story of how the world punishes her for being herself.

The debutant writer Harinder Kour has written the film and has been helmed by the national award-winning director Vijay Kumar Arora.

In the second week of February, the Punjabi audience will be served with the Jimmy Sheirgill, Kulraj Randhawa, Sajjan Adeeb, and Delbar Arya starrer ‘Tu Hovein Main Hovan’. The film's trailer was recently released and showed that it would be a family drama. It features the tale of two couples, first, is Jimmy and Kulraj, who were in love, got married, and had kids, only later to part ways. And the second couple is Sajjan and Delbar, who want to tie the knot since they are in love, but their relationship is poisoned by the devil of suspicion. Both couples have complicated relationships that they can’t stand, yet it is hard for them to move forward.

Written and directed by Vakil Singh, the movie will hit the theatres on February 10.

Slated to make it to the 70MM on February 17, 2023, ‘Golgappe’ is a comedy-drama. It has been directed by Smeep Kang and has Binnu Dhillon, Rajat Bedi, BN Sharma, Ihaana Dhillon, and Navneet Kaur Dhillon in the lead. So far the trailer of the movie has not been released, but the first song from it has been served to the audience. The song gives a peek into the chemistry of Binnu-Navneet and Rajat-Ihaana.

Another comedy movie that will be making it to the theatres in February is ‘Ji Wife Ji. It is a multi-starrer with an ensemble cast that includes Roshan Prince, Sakshi Magoo, Karamjit Anmol, Nisha Bano, Lucky Dhaliwal, Ekta Gulati Khera, Sardar Sohi, Malkeet Rauni, Anita Devgan and more. It has been written by Avtar Singh and Aman Sidhu, the former is also the captain of the ship.

The movie is releasing on February 24, 2023.
