Celebs set to make their Pollywood debut as the main lead in 2019

Year 2019 saw a lot of Punjabi singers making their debut as the male protagonist, like Rajvir Jawandha, Gurnam Bhullar, Guri. And now the ‘Fitoor’ fame singer Jayy Randhawa has joined the bandwagon. The songester is marking his acting debut with ‘Sukha Khalon’. Touted to be a content based project, the movie is being helmed by Tru Makers.

Along with Jayy, the has Vadda Grewal and Kanika Mann in the lead.

Further, bankrolled by KV Dhillon, Khush Parmar and Ashu Munish Sahni, the movie is slated to release this year, but a date hasn’t been announced. The shoot of the film has gone on the floors.

2019 will be marking the debut of a number of Punjabi singers as actors in Pollywood, and Guri is one of them. The ‘Mil Lo Na’ fame singer is making his entry into Punjabi cinema with ‘Sikander 2’. The movie is a sequel to 2013 release ‘Sikander’ and the shoot of the same has gone on the floors.

The Manav Shah directorial stars Guri along with Kartar Cheema. The movie is reportedly from a serious genre, and it might change the singer’s chocolate boy image in the Punjabi entertainment world.

Bankrolled by Khushwinder Parmar, Ashok Yadav, Vipin Gill, Gurinder Gill and KV Dhillon, ‘Sikander 2’ is slated to release on June 7.

The popularity, reach and success of Punjabi cinema is getting a notch higher with almost every film release. Perhaps, that is why more and more celebrities are making their way to Pollywood from different fields. Jordan Sandhu made his first cinematic appearance in supporting cast of the multistarrer movie ‘Subedar Joginder Singh’. The movie couldn’t do much at the box office, but Jordan Sandhu’s performance caught the eyes and thus, he got a number of projects in his kitty. The project that will be marking his debut in Pollywood as the male lead is ‘Kaake Da Viyah’. Coming from the genre of romantic comedy, the movie will be starring Jordan along with Prabhjot Grewal. The film is slated to hit the screens on 1st February. Just two weeks after that, Jordan will again take up the theatres with the release of ‘Kala Shah Kala’, another rom-com set in the backdrop of the bygone era. In ‘Kala Shah Kala’ Jordan Sandhu will be sharing the screen space with Binnu Dhillon and Sargun Mehta. Besides, there’s another movie titled ‘Hanji Hanji’ that Jordan Sandhu signed last year. The female lead opposite Jordan Sandhu in the film is Payal Rajput. The release date of the same hasn’t been unveiled as of now.

The ‘Daimond’ fame singer Gurnam Bhullar is now ready to be launched as a star of Pollywood. He is making his debut with the movie ‘Gudiyaan Patole’. The Jagdeep Sidhu directorial is a romantic comedy with Sonam Bajwa as the female lead opposite Gurnam Bhullar. The movie is slated to hit the box office on March 8. Thereafter, on 30th August, the big screen will again see Gurnam Bhullar with the release of ‘Surkhi Bindi’. The movie will star him along with Simi Chahal. In addition to that, Gurnam Bhullar will be seen in ‘Vilaiti Yantra’, reportedly a period film with a bit of twist infused. The release date of the same is yet to be announced.

Besides artists from the Punjabi entertainment world, talents from different fields will also be making their way to Pollywood in 2019, and Aman Sandhu is one of them. Aman Sandhu is a famous face from the small screen. She will be making her Punjabi acting debut in ‘Vilaiti Yantra’ opposite Gurnam Bhullar. The movie’s shoot went on the floors last year, but its release date has been kept under wraps as of now.

Another Punjabi celebrity who first made his cinematic appearance in supporting cast is Rajvir Jawanda. Like Jordan Sandhu, he was also a part of team ‘Subedar Joginder Singh’. Now the Punjabi singer turn actor is set to make his debut as the male lead in the movie ‘Mahi Ve’. The movie is a Darshan Bagga directorial. Though details regarding the female lead opposite Rajvir Jawanda hasn’t been disclosed, the movie will star Harby Sangha and Upasna Singh in the pivotal roles. The shoot of the same went on the floors last year, and now we are waiting for the makers to announce the release date of the movie. Besides, he will also be seen in ‘Mindo Taseeldarni’. Releasing on June 28, the movie will star him along with Kavita Kaushik and Karamjit Anmol.

The trend of singers boarding the acting bus is not new in Punjabi entertainment world. Taking the same trend ahead, Punjabi singer Guri will be marking his Pollywood debut with the movie ‘Sikander 2’. Guri is known more for his sweet chocolate boy looks and groovy romantic tracks, but for his debut in Punjabi cinema, he chose a serious genre. Further, this is a Manav Shah film scheduled to release on 7 June, and in it, Guri will be sharing the screen space with Kartar Cheema.
