Birthday Special! Gippy Grewal: 2019’s upcoming projects of the actor-director-producer

Today the multifaceted star of Punjabi entertainment world, Gippy Grewal has ringed in his 36th birthday. Many stars of his age are concentrating on just one of two fields of work, preferably singing and acting, but Gippy Grewal, on the other hand, has tried his hand in almost every domain of entertainment. From writing to directing to producing, acting, singing Gippy Grewal has not just explored these domains but has garnered appreciation and success in the same.

‘Manje Bistre 2’

Slated to release on April 12, ‘Manje Bistre 2’ is the first cinematic outing of Gippy Grewal for the year 2019. The movie is a sequel of 2017 released ‘Manje Bistre’, and comes from the genre of romantic drama. While the first installment revolved around a village in Punjab, the second part has taken the madness to Canada.


With the release of ‘Manje Bistre 2’ audience for the first time will see the fresh pairing of Gippy Grewal and Simi Chahal. Besides playing the lead in the movie, Gippy Grewal has also bankrolled the project and worked on the story and screenplay. Baljit Singh Deo who directed the first part has helmed the sequel as well.

‘Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh’

On one hand, where ‘Manje Bistre 2’ will feature Gippy Grewal and Simi Chahal together for the first time, ‘Chandirgarh Amritsar Chandigarh’ will star the fresh pairing of Gippy Grewal and Sargun Mehta. The movie is from the genre of romantic comedy. The shoot of the same went on the floor in September 2018. Directed by Karan R Guliani, the movie will be hitting the screen this year only, but the exact release date hasn’t been unveiled as of now.

‘Aardas 2’

Another sequel that Gippy Grewal will be presenting this year is ‘Ardaas 2’. The movie is a sequel to 2016 released ‘Ardaas’, which marked the debut directorial of Gippy Grewal. The first part was a content-rich social drama and the second has been penned on similar lines. The shoot of the same is scheduled to go on the floor this month only. Recently, Gippy Grewal was hunting shoot locations for the movie and was calling out fresh faces for auditions.


Just like the first part, the second installment will be helmed by Gippy Grewal only. Besides direction, he will also be enjoying the credits for production and script writing of the movie.

‘Chak De Fattae 2’

It seems like Gippy Grewal would not be stopping at just two sequels in 2019. ‘Chak De Fattae 2’, is a sequel 2008 released ‘Chak De Phatte’. Coming from the genre of comedy-drama, the movie will be bankrolled under Gippy Grewal’s home production, while Smeep Kang will be directing the same. There are chances that Gippy Grewal will be essaying a lead role in the movie, however, since the actor in his recent conversation with ETimes mentioned that he will be working more as a producer now, nothing concrete can be said as of now

The untitled projects with Bhushan Kumar

Besides solely producing Punjabi movies, Gippy Grewal has also joined hands with T-Series chairman and managing director Bhushan Kumar for two ventures. Titles and female cast of the films haven’t been disclosed as of now, but both the movies will have Gippy Grewal essaying the lead role. According to a TOI report, The first film is slated to go on the floor on February and will be directed by Baljit Singh Deo, and the second will be helmed by Smeep Kang, and its shoot will begin from April 20. With this new partnership, Gippy Grewal feels that he will be able to produce two Punjabi movies on a bigger scale.

An untitled project with Jatinder Shah

There’s another untitled project that Gippy Grewal will be bankrolling under his home production banner. According to a TOI report, the movie is from the genre of romantic comedy but will have a twist infused in it. The project will be directed by Smeep Kang and the legendary Jatinder Shah will be giving music to the same. More details related to the movie have been kept under wraps for now.
