Hello everyone, and welcome to ETimes’ latest series - #BossBabesOfPollywood. Herein every week we connect with one of the leading ladies of the Punjabi cine and music world and discuss the topics that are hardly spoken about. In this second chapter of our #BossBabesOfPollywood series, we connected with actress Bhumika Sharma of ‘Babbar’ fame and she spilled beans on the lesser-known facts and the dark side of the entertainment world.
“Not that bad to be honest, till the time you are charging less money. In my experience, I feel as an outsider you get fewer chances to get good or big movies till the time you are not a big brand yourself. So basically, if you are coming to this industry without any back support, relation, or godfather, then in order to make sure that you become a part of a bigger project, you will have to put in a little extra effort.”
“Where do I start? Well, the most important one is that there is absolutely no privacy. Then you can't joke around much, because almost everything will be taken out of context. There are always rumors flying around and no one cares if something is true or not. Have to be very careful what to speak and where to speak; even in front of industry people also because you never know who wants to bring you down.”
“The response is always mixed, who loves you will appreciate and critics are always there to make you stronger than ever. However, I have to admit that being an actress I love doing challenging roles. The more layers a character has, the more challenging it is.”
“One thing I like is Instant stardom and fame. I can’t hate Pollywood, but yes, I want to change a few things about it. For instance, in movies the over-dependence on the hero. I would like to have more projects in which actresses come in front to show what they are really capable of”.
