Many Marathi actors have had a great background in theatre before they entered the film industry. In addition to great story lines these actors made their mark leaving a lasting mark by portraying great acting skills. Here are some of the most talented actors of Marathi theatre.

Having established her name as a film and TV personality, Mukta started off with theatre and left quite a mark on the scene.Her first play was Aamhala Vegle Vhayache in 2001, and after that there was no looking back for her. Some of her other plays are Final Draft, Chhapa Kata and Kabbadi Kabbadi.


His journey with Marathi theatre goes back to 1991 where he was a part of one-act play ‘Sadu and Dadu’. He later went on to join Progressive Dramatic Association at the age of 16. He was a part of Marathi plays like Kabbadi-Kabbadi, Prema Tuza Rang Kasa and Jaswandi which got him recognised as one of the most sought after theatre actors.


Besides being a popular name in Marathi film industry and TV, Kavita Lad’s work in theatre is just as remarkable. She has been a part of renowned plays like Eka Laganachi Goshta, Sundar Mi Honar and Char Divas Premache alongside some of the best actors in Marathi theatre.


The list may seem incomplete without the mention of his name. Prashant Damle’s career in Marathi theatre spans over 33 years. Having won several awards and recognition, some of his most memorable plays are Tur Tur, Maharashtrachi Lokdhara, Brahmachari, Lagnachi Gosht, Gela Madhav Kunikade among many more.
