With so many new and old plays filling the

Marathi

theatrical space, a

play

has to be really superior to stand above the rest in this cramped area. But ‘

Idiots

’ has a lot going for it to remain eminently watchable; it gives the competition a good run for its money.

Directed and written by Shrirang Godbole, the play offers a fantastic

stage

experience to the audience.

It dwells on the lives of two single Mumbaikars, who are doing well professionally and end up sharing an apartment as a live-in couple. The story is woven around a lot of comic situations and funny interludes, which evoke laughter.

Lead actors Sagar Karande and Smita Tambe play their parts to perfection and complement Godbole’s vision on stage.

Songs by Avadhoot Gupte and Savani Ravindra add to the wholesome experience.

Phulwa Khamkar’s choreography is wonderful as always.
