Actress Saunskruti Kher
recently avoided falling prey to a
casting scandal
.
A few days ago, the Swami Public Ltd actress received messages from an international number asking if she ‘would be interested in doing a television show based in USA’. The person identified himself as
Mark Saks
, the casting director for
The Good Wife
, and asked Saunskruti to send some of her recent photographs as well.
Fortunately, Saunskruti called the bluff and gave the fake Mark Saks a piece of her mind. “Last year, I had received a similar message from a friend who told me that a popular south Indian director was conducting auditions. Since it was from a friend, I got in touch with the person. I was told to do an ‘urgent Skype audition’ but since I was travelling, I couldn’t. Later on, I came to know that it was a scam,” informed Saunskruti.
The same thing happened with her again when a person posing as casting director
Mukesh Chhabra got in touch. “By the third time, you can easily call the bluff. In fact, I was stuck in traffic when I got this message from “Mark Saks”. Because I was bored and had nothing to do, I replied just for fun. It was pretty entertaining,” shared the actress, who is planning to lodge a complaint with the cyber cell at the earliest.
Not long ago, it was reported that Indian Idol contestant Purva Mantri was approached for a role in 'The Good Wife' but declined after learning the role would require her to do intimate scenes as well. “I knew about this so it was easy for me to spot. But there must be other who might’ve fallen prey to the scam. At such times, it is necessary to understand that no professional casting director will hold a ‘last minute video audition’. One has to be alert all the time,” said Saunskruti, who has taken a long break from work and is travelling in the mountains. She said, “I am in Mumbai for a few days to cheer for my sister Saiyami (Kher) and the team of '
Mirzya
'. I will go back to the mountains for a couple of months and return to work after that.”
