Turns out everyone's favourite lyricist Guru Thakur might have sacrificed a career in acting in a bid to become a successful writer. "Actually I am an actor and have done a few assignments. I used to like writing too. The producers, directors imbibed on me that since there is dearth of good writers, I should concentrate on writing, because according to them I was good at it. They say, there are plenty of actors available for a single project, but same can't be said about writers. So, I sacrificed my acting career, for writing songs," said Thakur, as reported by the website marathimovieworld.com.
Thakur started his career as a newspaper columnist and then went on to work as a cartoonist, a caricaturist, a voice-over artist and a script writer. He came to prominence with his song-writing skills as a lyricist. He has the TV serial 'Shriyut Gangadhar Tipre' and the popular marathi drama 'Bhaiyya Haat Paay Pasari' to his credit as a writer.
