As he makes his directorial debut with the upcoming Marathi film Wedding Cha Cinema, for which he has also composed the music, Saleel told us how important songs are in a film.
He shared, “I have worked with directors like Ravi Jadhav and Satish Rajwade, Purushottam Berde, Gajendra Ahire, Jatin Wagle among others, and everyone has a different philosophy of making films.

They discuss the music of the film with me, and as a music director I have always told them that if it is a must, only then we will make the song. Putting songs in the film just out of the blue doesn’t help.” Saleel added, “I don’t want people to use a song as a break and step out to of the cinema hall to buy popcorn. Music in the film should not be a relaxation time for the viewers; it should tell a story and take the movie forward.”
