Music review: Dandam

There are four songs on the playlist of

Dandam

. The list starts with the romantic track Dil Majha Bigi Bigi, sung by

Anandi Joshi

and

Abhimanyu Karlekar

(who is also the music director of the film). After Sairat, a lot of Marathi films have tried to emulate the success of the film's songs. Dil Majha Bigi Bigi is oddly reminiscent of Sairat's title track thanks to its treatment. While Anandi is good, Abhimanyu tries too hard to stylise the song but doesn't quite make a mark.

Next is Zanjavat, a high-octane track sung by Jasraj Joshi. This is one of those tracks that you would hear playing in the background in action films when the hero is prepping hard for a mission. Liberally laced with 'Zanjavat, zanjavat' and 'Dandam, Dandam', the lyrics and music will only make an impact if the accompanying visuals are any good. Otherwise, this is an average track.
Zanjavat is followed by

Prasenjit Kosambi

's Sajani, another romantic track. The song starts on a calm note before picking up tempo and going back to a serene space again. This is one of the better songs of the album mostly because of Kosambi's skill.

The album ends with The Banglang Song. Sung by Adarsh Shinde, this is a dance number suited for house parties. Shinde adds his unique touch to the song that mixes the traditional gondhal rhythm with modern beats.
