Music review: Baalaa

With four songs on it’s list, the album of

Baalaa

boasts of well-known singers like Sonu Nigam and Adarsh Shinde crooning songs. However, it falls into the usual mould that many Marathi films have tried to fit in the past.
The list starts with Jinkuya Kheluya, sung by Nihar Shendekar. With encouraging lyrics, this song is essentially an anthem to boost the morale of the protagonist. However, it slips into a party-mix mode that nullifies the effect of the lyrics soon.
Next is Rohit Raut’s

Duniyadari

which is a song that preaches the meaning and value of life in a fun way. While Rohit is good, the Mahesh-Rakesh composition lacks novelty, making it a wedding

orchestra

number at the end of it.
Adarsh Shinde sings the high-energy number Vitthala-Vitthala in his trademark style. While he is known for songs in this genre, Adarsh has proved he can handle other genres as well. Unfortunately, many composers, including those of Baalaa, have failed to explore his talent to the fullest.
The playlist ends with the serene Ladalya, sung by Sonu Nigam. With minimal music, this composition gives ample scope to Sonu’s voice and he makes the most of it. This is the only track that stands out in this otherwise average album.
