Compared to Hindi music directors, Marathi ones exposed to better literature: Kaushal Inamdar
Music director Kaushal Inamdar attributes the success of Marathi music on National level to the closeness of Marathi music directors to their literature.
Behind the music for award winning film ‘Yellow,’ Kaushal said, “Marathi music directors are exposed to better literature as compared to Hindi music directors. This reflects in their music.” Speaking on the various subjects being explored by Marathi filmmakers currently, Kaushal said, “When Marathi filmmakers handle a variety of subjects, we as music directors also get an opportunity to experiment with our music and its not exactly a cake walk.

We take much pain to make it special.”
Adding that Marathi cinema needs to achieve more, Kaushal said, “I have seen Marathi cinema at its worst stage when no new subjects were being handled and nothing interesting was happening. I am glad that I got to see this phase of Marathi cinema too where a variety of subjects are being explored. A lot of new styles of music are being introduced. When I look back at my last five films I realise that each film is different from the other in terms of subject, genre and style of storytelling. It is like living in the golden era all over again.”
‘Yellow’ won the special jury award and the actresses of the film Gauri Gadgil and Sanjana Rai won special mention at this year’s National Awards.
