In another first, popular rock band Indian Ocean is going to compose for the upcoming Marathi movie, 'The Silence.' It marks the group’s debut in the Marathi film industry. Revealing details about the film’s music score, Amit Kilam, the drummer of the band that has won plaudits for its music in the recent cult film, 'Masaan,' said, “Directed by
Gajendra Ahire, this is a dark film that portrays the ordeal of a minor raped by her own uncle.
We are in the process of composing the background score for the movie at the moment. We wanted the music to be the voice of the film. Thus, guitars form the backbone of our compositions.”
When asked how it was working within the orbit of a small-budget Marathi film when compared to their bigger Bollywood projects, Amit said, “This is the first time that we have been offered a Marathi film. The director gave us our space to take the call on the movie’s music and that is why we decided to go ahead with it. The fact is that Marathi cinema has produced some fabulous movies of late and we would love to do more work here in the future,” he said.
