Marathi mulgi Mrunmayee says ‘I do’

Television and film actress Mrunmayee Deshpande, of 'Katyar Kaljat Ghusali' and 'Natsamrat fame, tied the knot with Swapnil Rao in the city, on Saturday.

The couple’s closest friends and relatives came to witness them enter into matrimony. Mrunmayee’s mother, Pratibha Vivek Deshpande, informed us that the daytime wedding ceremony followed a traditional Peshwai theme, with all the rituals in tow. The bride sported a splendid ''nauvari saree' as she said her ‘I do’ to Swapnil, an engineer by profession. The afternoon menu comprised some 'assal Marathi jevan', including amrakhand, Mrunmayee’s favourite.

The evening reception saw stars from the film and television industry in attendance, bestowing their blessings on the newly weds, including Nana Patekar, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Bhargavi Chirmule, Abhijeet Khandkekar, Pushkar Shrotri, Pooja Sawant, Aniket Vishwasrao and Bhushan Pradhan, among others.

With all the wedding celebrations done, the couple will now head to New Zealand for a month-long honeymoon. Here are some glimpses from the celebrations...
