Chinmay Mandlekar is a renowned Marathi film and stage director. Mandlekar is popular in Marathi theatres with his directions such as 'Bechaki' and 'Sukhanshi Bhandto Aamhi'. 'Zenda'

Avadhoot Gupte's 'Zenda' deserves applause for the political reality he has revealed in the film. The film boasted of an ensemble cast which included Pushkar Shotri, Rajesh Shrungarpure, Santosh Juvekar, Siddharth Chandekar, Sachit Patil, Chinmay Mandlekar, Tejashree Pradhan and more. This political drama was a blockbuster because of its powerful plot and was also outstandingly presented by the director. This movie is different from other movies as it shows the darker side of Maharashtra’s politics. Thus, this serious and interesting plot makes it worth the watch.

'Moraya'

Avadhoot Gupte directorial this film is a traditional plot starring Santosh Juvekar, Spruha Joshi, Pari Telang, Chinmay Mandlekar, Dilip Prabhawalkar, Janardhan Parab, Ganesh Yadav in the lead roles. It revolves around the politics in the Ganpati Mandal. It's about the scam of the money collected during Ganeshotsav. Gupte’s attempt to highlight the dark-side of Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav is commendable.

'Lokmanya – Ek Yug Purush'

‘Lokmanya - Ek Yug Purush‘ is one such film that depicts the life of Bal Gangadhar Tilak in a different and powerful way. The story travels to the 1800s when Lokmanya Tilak (Subodh Bhave) was preparing to fight for ‘Swaraj’.Subodh Bhave deserves a round of applause for portraying Tilak’s greatness with such finesse. Chinmay Mandlekar as a journalist has done full justice to his character. The effort that director Om Raut has put in is also commendable.

'Reti'

Directed by Suhas Bhosale, this film starred Kishor Kadam, Chinmay Mandlekar, Shashank Shende, Sanjay Khapre, Vidyadhar Joshi, Suhas Palshikar, Deepak Karanjikar, Gayatri Soham Deshmukh, Mousami Tondwalkar and Bhagyashree Rane. The film’s story revolves around where does the sand used for construction come from? What politics is involved and what is the mystery behind the death of the government officials? Shankar (Mandlekar), is an illegal dealer of the sand. This movie has a powerful subject and is thus worth a watch.

'Mahanayak Vasant Tu'

A Nilesh Raosaheb Jalamkar directorial, this biopic starred Chinmay Mandlekar as Vasantrao Naik, Nisha Parulekar, Ravi Patwardhan, Bharat Ganeshpure, Prakash Dhotre, Jayraj Nair, Ashish Kulkarni, Jayant Patrikar, Satish Phadke and Yayati Rajwade. This story is based on the life journey of Vasantrao Naik, his political career, his childhood etc. Chinmay has done complete justice to the character he played in the film. This one surely deserves a watch.
