Actor-producer Sunil Barve has been an active campaigner for the revival of acclaimed Marathi plays through his Herbarium project. He has also won accolades for the same. But this time, at the the 75th Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Awards, Barve received an award for a new and original play, 'Amar Photo Studio'. The play, featuring young actors, Amey Wagh, Sakhee Gokhale, Suvrat Joshi and Siddhesh Purkar, has been directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari and over the past few months it has run to full houses at many shows across the state.
The play has been applauded for its fresh content and direction as well as for the performances. Barve's backing ensured it reached a wider audience. At the 75th Master

ceremony, the producer was awarded for his contribution to the field of drama. Among other awardees were actor
Aamir Khan (who was conferred the award for his performance in 'Dangal') and cricketing legend
Kapil Dev.
The awards are given out by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Snagh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat in a ceremony that also had
Lata Mangeshkar in attendance. Aamir, who is know to stay away from award shows, made an exception for this one and thanked his 'Dangal' team for this award.
