Stunt mania grips Marathi films

The Marathi film industry has always been known to be experimental. Going forward, actors are now following Bollywood when it comes to performing stunts. Most actors refuse a body double and insist on doing some death defying stunts themselves.

Stunt: Siddharth had to jump from the ninth floor of a building and land on a four wheeler
���������The director wanted my character���������s entry in the film to be special.I opted to do the stunt myself as I had never done something like this before. But at the time of the shoot, I got jittery since the height was approximately 110 feet. Satish suggested that I use a body double, but I wanted to keep my commitment and experience the thrill of the stunt. So finally I managed to do the stunt with the help of cables,��������� revealed Siddharth.
Devendra Chougule
Film: Welcome to Jungle, upcoming sci-fi thriller directed by Sanjay Krushna Jadhav
Stunt: The stunt required Devendra to jump 23 feet high on a bike before crashing down in a lake below ���������Devendra is a RAW officer in the film and one sequence required him to chase a terrorist on his bike. We shot this particular scene at Rankala lake in Kolhapur. We used five cameras to get the final shot,��������� said Sanjay. The actor said, ���������I met a few bikers from Kolhapur to take some tips from them on speed control and rehearsed for a day. Not leaving the grip was a challenge. I���������m confident that the scene gave the realistic touch that it meant to give.���������

Film: Yodha, an action-thriller inspired by Salman Khan���������s Dabangg, directed by Machhindra Dhumal
Stunt: The actor had to stand seven feet away from a blast scene Saurabh plays an ACP in the film and is shown to be posted in the Naxal affected area of Chinch Khand near Akola district. The actor said, ���������There was a chase scene where a blast happens seven feet away from where I was. Dhumal had suggested we use a dummy and take a long shot but that would have taken away the impact and I insisted on doing this myself.���������
Actresses who have performed stunts
Recently during the shoot of her debut Marathi film AjobaUrmila Matondkar volunteered to climb a tree instead of using a body double. Director Sujay Dahake said, ���������I had told Urmila that we will use suggestive shots as the tree was located right in the middle of a stream and Urmila had to place a camera there. But she insisted on doing the scene.���������
Nitin Chandrakant Desai���������s Ajintha saw actor Sonalee fall off a 60 feet waterfall. ���������As it was a two-camera set up and we required close shots, there was no question of using a body double for this stunt. For a second, at that moment I thought that it was the last moment of my life,��������� said Sonalee.
