The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sadness over the demise of veteran actress Smita Talwalkar. The PM Office posted on their Twitter handle about the same saying, '@PMOIndia PM recalled Smita Talwalkar's contribution to the Marathi film industry & prayed that her soul rests in peace' (sic).
In her illustrious career, Smita worked in Hindi and Marathi films as well as TV serials and was also a National Award winning producer. Another tweet from the
NaMo's office read 'Condoling the passing away of veteran film personality Smita Talwalkar, PM said that her demise is a major loss to Marathi film industry.' (sic).
Smita, 59, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2010 and after chemotherapy and medications, she resumed work for a while. Her recent works included the serials 'Radha Hi Bawari' and 'Uncha Mazha Jhoka'. She was the producer of 'Kalat Nakalat' and Saat Chya Aat Gharat'.
