Revealed: Tanuja's look in 'Pitruroon'

The news about veteran actress Tanuja shaving her head for Marathi film 'Pitruroon', based on a Kannada short story by Sudha Murthy, took everyone by surprise. It is learnt that the actress decided to shave her head for the role on suggestion of Nitish Bharadwaj, the director of the film.
While speaking to TOI, Bharadwaj said, ���������After the narration Tanujaji immediately gave a nod to do the film.I told her that as she is playing role of a widow, she will have to carry a bald look for the film. I then shared my personal experiences with her. In my career twice I had to carry bald look.
"For the film Trishagni (1989) I shaved my head and for television show Vishnu Puran I used prosthetic make-up. With prosthetic make up, it often happens that the artist has performed extremely well but there is wrinkle in make-up and we have to re-shoot. With natural look the artists is more at ease. Listening to my experience Tanujaji immediately agreed to shave her head without a second thought. As a director I am very glad to have that kind of a commitment from a senior artist,��������� he added.
