Calling the appointed governing council chairman Gajendra Chauhan mediocre, Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the RSS and BJP during his visit to the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune.
"A person who is mediocre has been put on top of people who don't want to be mediocre," Rahul Gandhi said during his interaction with the students. He went on to add the the "RSS and its wings promote mediocrity" and that "if Narendra Modi has decided Gajendra Chauhan's appointment, no one in the BJP can change that".

FTII students have been on strike since June 12 against the appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as chairperson of the FTII society along with four other members including Anagha Ghaisas and Rahul Solapurkar.

Soon after he interacted with the press and students, Gandhi proceeded to the FTII auditorium to watch Umesh Kulkarni's Marathi short film 'Girni'. The film was made by Umesh, whose film 'Highway' is set to hit screens on August 28, during his time at FTII. Gandhi will also be watching a documentary about the iconic Prabhat Film COmpany on whose premises the FTII stands today.
