Marathi actor Radhika Apte, who made an impact in Bollywood as Tushar Kapoor's demure bride in Shor In The City, is looking forward to her next ' Ketan Mehta's Mountain Man. She will play Nawazuddin Siddique's wife in the film on Bihari-based labourer Dashrath Manjhi's life. Manjhi undertook the heroic task of cutting a 300-m long and 25-ft wide road through a mountain thereby reducing the distance from 75 km to just 1 km.
He spent 22 years on this feat which earned him the title of Mountain Man. He died in 2007 at the age of 70.
This is another ambitious project of Mehta who is known for his films like
Mirch Masala, Maya Memsaab and
Mangal Pandey: The Rising. It was earlier reported that Nawazuddin finds his role as Dashrath Manjhi the toughest he has portrayed till date. 'The script is very powerful. I have a rural get-up in the film. Dashrath's son and some of his acquaintances who reside in the area are giving us valuable inputs,' Radhika says.
Working with Nawazuddin has been a fantastic experience, adds the actor. 'As an actor, he is experimental and keeps trying out different things and improvising on his performance,' she says.
