Actor
Kamlesh Sawant, who was a close friend and creatively associated with late filmmaker
Nishikant Kamat since 1998, was devasted and heartbroken to hear about his demise on Monday.
"I was praying that the news would turn out to false, but in the evening my close friend confirmed of his passing. I have worked with him for the longest time in the industry. I don't know how to express my grief today.
He was a fighter, a good human being in our industry. He left us too soon. He had so many dreams to fulfil," begins Kamlesh, who was palpably emotional while speaking with us.
Kamlesh with Ajay Devgn in the film DrishyamKamlesh, who worked with Nishikant in films like ‘Force’, ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’, ‘Drishyam’ among other projects shares, "Nishikant used to call me for most of his films not because we were close but, he used to have immense faith in my talent. You need such kind of filmmakers to build an actor. He was an actor too and he knew our struggles. He used to ask my opinion after the scenes and took our feedback seriously.”
Kamlesh, recalls his last conversation with Nishikant and says, “We had panned a new film on suspense-thriller and he was very excited for the same. He was a dreamer and hardworking person. On the sets, be it Ajay Devgn, myself or any actor, he treated us so well. We were so comfortable working with him. Nishikant was a true actor’s director, we lost a great filmmaker.”
