Marathi and Bollywood's legendary actor Nilu Phule needs no introduction and words are not enough to describe his legacy. Phule was prominently known for the grey characters he played in Marathi films. He also has a major contribution to Hindi cinema.

​'Samna'

Jabbar Patel's 1974 crime drama 'Samna' dramatizes the conflict of wills between a small-town political racketeer and a morally upright school teacher. Phule played the iconic role of Hindurao Dhonde Patil, a zamindar and a sugar tycoon in the film.

It also starred Mohan Agashe, Anant Audkar, Shivaji Bhosle, and Sanjivani Bidkar in pivotal roles.

​'Ek Gaav Baara Bhanagadi'

Nilu Phule made his Marathi film debut with Anant Mane's classical film 'Ek Gaav Baara Bhanagadi'. Phule got this film because of his stellar performance in 'Katha Akalecha Kandyachi' which went on to have over 2000 shows.

'Ek Gaav Baara Bhanagadi' also starred actors like Jayshree Gadkar and Arun Sarnaik in lead roles.

'​Pinjra'

V.Shantaram's 'Pinjra' is an epic love story of a Tamasha dancer and a respected school teacher. Phule played a convincing villain (Bajirao) in the film. It also starred the great actors Shriram Lagoo and Sandhya in lead roles. The film is known for its music and dance numbers with music by Ram Kadam.

​'Sinhasan'

Dr. Jabbar Patel's 'Sinhasan' is one of the sharpest political dramas of Marathi cinema. This film is the most realistic display of nasty politics. Phule as a journalist has done complete justice to the role. It also starred Arun Sarnaik, Shriram Lagoo, Mohan Agashe, Reema Lagoo, Nana Patekar and Usha Nadkarni in pivotal roles.

​'Harya Narya Zindabad'

Govind Kulkarni's 1972 comedy film 'Harya Narya Zindabad' starred Maya Jadhav, Bhalchandra Kulkarni, Nilu Phule, Ram Nagarkar, Ratnamala and Vasant Khedekar in pivotal roles.

Nilu Phule as always is a brilliant performance (played the role of Narya ) was appreciated by the audience.
