How did you land the role?
Samit Kakkad (director) had seen an independent film of mine titled 'Oass'. He has been following my work ever since and when it came to this film, he was very clear about the kind of actor he wanted. We sat down for a reading and though I was skeptical initially, I accepted it as a challenge.

What were you skeptical about?
More than acting in a Marathi film, I was skeptical about doing justice to the role.

How did you get accustomed to Marathi?

I had to learn Marathi and Samit as well as producer

Nanubhai Jaisinghani

made me very comfortable. I did a workshop with Ketaki Saraf and everything worked out well. Basically I was just a medium to put forth Samit's vision.

Did you learn a lot of Marathi?
I can't speak it perfectly but I can understand most of it. Whatever I needed for my role, the pronunciation and meaning, I got it done perfectly.

I have never seen so much professionalism in kids. Marathi cinema is doing wonders and it was a great overall experience working on this film.

How has the response to your play 'Nirbhaya' been?
Incredible would be an understatement to describe the reponse. Actress Poorna Jagannathan had got in touch with Yael Farber, the play's director and that's how this all began. Globally, 'Nirbhaya' has received great response.

You are doing an English film with Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel.
