���������The audiences of Marathi theatre comprise educated middle-class viewers. Thus, the subjects that form the stories are extensively those that deal with relationships,��������� says veteran actor Mohan Agashe.
Lamenting the fact that Marathi theatre had still not got the due it deserves, Agashe says, ���������Marathi followed by Bengali theatre is way ahead of even English theatre in terms of content.

He blamed the lack of desire to learn new languages also as another reason for it. ���������Even those who live in Maharashtra do not speak Marathi. Knowledge of local language helps us to assimilate better with the local culture. Otherwise, we end up creating cultural ghettos,��������� he said while addressing a gathering of students at an event held to create awareness about campus film societies.
Encouraging students to be a part of film societies on the campus, the actor said, ���������Learning the language of audio visual mediums helps to develop senses of image and sound and makes us appreciate cinema.���������
Commenting upon the widespread use of cameras built in mobile phones, Agashe said that it had made everybody a filmmaker. ���������By properly learning the language of this medium we can further hone our skills. This can be done through these film societies. Students can easily undergo the surgery of education under the anesthesia of entertainment,���������he remarked.
